Hakeem Howard dies in hospital three days after being wounded in shooting in Humboldt Park

Three days after being wounded in a shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, 23-year-old Hakeem Howard, who lived in Englewood, died of his injuries.

Howard was shot in the abdomen just before 10 a.m. Saturday by someone who walked up to him and began firing in the 3800 block of West Chicago, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to authorities.

Howard was the third person shot in about as many hours Saturday morning during a spree of violence in the neighborhood.
