Devonte M. Morgan was killed early Wednesday in a Gresham neighborhood shooting on the South Side.
The 21-year-old Morgan was standing on the street at 1:44 a.m. in the 7900 block of South Paulina, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Someone then walked up to him and fired shots, police said.
Morgan was shot in the back, and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead 3:05 a.m., authorities said.
A resident of the Park Manor neighborhood, Morgan attended Wendell Phillips Academy High School.
