Thaddeus ‘Tad’ Dean killed in drive-by shooting just a few blocks away from his home in Austin

Thaddeus “Tad” Dean was killed in an Austin neighborhood drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon on the West Side.

The 26-year-old Dean was standing outside about 3 p.m. on the sidewalk in the 100 block of South Lockwood, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone in a passing vehicle fired shots and Dean was hit.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m., authorities said.

Dean, who had attended Foreman High School, lived about three blocks away in the same neighborhood. He was known as “tad” or “KT.”
