Javier ‘Lazy’ Pantoja shot to death in Chicago Lawn drive-by

Javier “Lazy” Pantoja was killed in a drive-by shooting early Monday in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

The 26-year-old was standing outside next to a car in the 3000 block of West 60th Street just after midnight when a tan vehicle drove by westbound, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone inside the vehicle fired shots, and Pantoja was struck multiple times, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:25 a. His home address was not known.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

A GoFundMe page to help the family with memorial expenses was halfway to its $5,000 goal after just 2 days.

The author of the page wrote of Pantoja: “As you all know we lost one of the most loving, selfless and kindhearted young men we could know on Aug. 14, 2017. His smile would brighten up a room. Javier “Lazy” Pantoja will be greatly missed, not only by his mom, brothers and sisters, but by so many. His death was sudden and something that no one could ever prepare for.”
