Issac Royal Harper, nephew of a Chicago cop, shot to death while sitting on his back porch in Longwood Manor

Issac Royal Harper, the nephew of a Chicago Police officer, was shot to death Tuesday night while standing on the back porch of his family’s home in the Longwood Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

The 21-year-old Harper was sitting on a back porch with his sister at 9:38 p.m. in the 9700 block of South Green, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone fired shots, striking him multiple times in the shoulder, leg and hip, police said.

Harper was pronounced dead at the scene less than 30 minutes later, authorities said.

Harper, originally from Champaign, was a graduate of Perspectives Charter School and was taking college courses online while working for Amazon. His aunt is a Chicago Police officer,

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation, but no one was in custody as of Wednesday morning.
