Adonis Johnson killed in drive-by shooting in East Garfield Park

Adonis L. Johnson man was killed Friday afternoon in a drive-by shooting a block away from his home in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Johnson, 25, was walking about 1:15 p.m. in the 3200 block of West Maypole, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A dark-colored vehicle drove past and someone inside fired shots, striking Johnson in the head and chest, authorities said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:48 p.m., authorities said. He lived just a block away from where he was shot.

Area North detectives were investigating.
