Marshall Carter shot to death near his home in South Shore

Marshall Carter died about an hour after he was shot Monday afternoon near his home in the South Shore neighborhood.

About 2:10 p.m., the 46-year-old Carter was standing outside in the back of a home in the 7300 block of South Dante, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Someone walked up and fired shots, police said, and Carter, who lived less than a block away, suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:53 p.m., authorities said.
