Lonnell Holmes was found dead Sunday evening with gunshot wounds in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
The 24-year-old Holmes was found about 8:34 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Lavergne, police said. He was unresponsive and had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and back.
Holmes was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
He was a graduate of Orr High School and also attended Malcolm X College. He worked for Walmart.
Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
