Johnson “John John” Liggins Jr. was shot to death last week in the South Shore neighborhood on Far South Side.
About 2:35 p.m. Monday, October 23, the 17-year-old was standing outside at the intersection of 80th and Coles, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Two people walked up to him and at least one of the starting shooting, police said.
Liggins was struck multiple times and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:25 p.m., authorities said.
An autopsy showed he died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Liggins, who had attended Mount Carmel and Julian high schools, lived several blocks away in the same neighborhood.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday at the Gatling’s Funeral Home at 10133 S. Halsted. Wake and funeral services will begin at 10 a.m Saturday at St. John AME Church at 9256 S. Lafayette, followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery.
