Angel Ortiz Jr. died Sunday after being shot while he was working as a bouncer late Saturday at an Irving Park neighborhood bar on the Northwest Side.

Ortiz, 51, was working about 11:40 p.m. at Brudder’s Sports Bar at 3600 North Pulaski when someone fired shots from the street into a window, according to Chicago Police.

Ortiz was shot in the head and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 5:39 p.m. Sunday, according to police. He lived in the 2600 block of North Normandy.

A silver minivan with bullet holes in the windows was parked on the south side of West Addison, surrounded by police tape. Police could be seen directing traffic in the intersection of Addison and Pulaski, where the bar is located.

The 23-year-old former Farragut High standout was killed Thursday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood in a shooting that also left a woman dead and a 16-year-old injured Chicago Police said.

The three victims were standing outside in the 4300 block of West Wilcox, just across the street from Hefferan Elementary School, at 4:04 p.m. when four people got out of a van and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The school was placed on lockdown until police had surrounded the scene.

Bond was set at $2 million Saturday for a Little Village man charged with fatally shooting Oscar Rodriguez and wounding a teenager on Labor Day in 2014 in South Lawndale.

Oscar Garcia, 22, faces one count of murder and one count of attempted murder for the attack on Sept. 1, 2014, in the 4300 block of West 25th Place, according to Chicago Police.

The 22-year-old Rodriguez and a 17-year-old boy were sitting on a porch about 2:50 a.m. when two people got out of a vehicle nearby and started shooting, police said at the time.

Petro Rymar found fatally stabbed inside store in Irving Park

Petro Rymar was found fatally stabbed inside an Irving Park neighborhood shop Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to check out a report of a broken window at the store of Bart’s Coins & Collectibles in the 3900 block of North Pulaski about 5 p.m.

The found the 56-year-old Rymar dead with multiple injuries, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 4900 block of North Avers.

Police initially said he had been shot but later determined he had suffered stab wounds. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide. Area North detectives are investigating.

A man was ordered held on a $1 million bond Thursday for allegedly killing Mario Ramirez Jr. during an argument outside a liquor store in Humboldt Park earlier this month.

After buying some alcohol in the 1100 block of North Pulaski on March 23, Victor Mendoza was walking back to his car, that was parked across the street, when Ramirez pulled up, authorities said.

Ramirez, 35, began yelling at other men who were standing outside the liquor store while seated in his car, Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Lesley Gool said.

As Mendoza walked back to his car, where four others were seated inside, Ramirez started screaming at him too, Gool said.

An Austin man on parole for a weapons case has been charged with the murder of Dan Rance, whom he allegedly shot 18 times last summer.

Marquise Willis killed the 23-year-old Rance on the same block where Rance lived on Sept. 2, 2015, Cook County prosecutors said Thursday.

Rance was standing near his parked car outside his home in the 700 block of North Long when Willis and another person parked their SUV down the street at Long and Huron, Assistant State’s Attorney Brian Whang said.

A witness had seen the same SUV earlier that evening, Whang said.

Guzman, 32, was outside in the 2900 block of North Sacramento about 1:45 a.m. when a white SUV pulled up and someone inside fired at him, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Guzman was shot in the chest and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:33 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

He lived on the same block where the shooting happened.

Luis Gonzalez killed, second man wounded when shots fired into their car in Humboldt Park

Luis Gonzalez was killed and another man wounded in a shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side on Wednesday evening.

Gonzalez, 25; and a 22-year-old man were sitting in a vehicle in the 3100 block of West Wabansia about 6 p.m. when someone walked up and shot them before running off, Chicago Police said.

Gonzalez was shot in the head and neck, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:35 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 1600 block of North Albany.

The younger man was shot in the lower back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Alejandro Velazquez-Perez fatally shot in vehicle in Back of the Yards

Alejandro Velazquez-Perez was shot to death Wednesday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

A little after 5 p.m., the 22-year-old was inside a vehicle in the 1700 block of West 46th Street when someone opened fire, hitting him in the side and leg, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Witnesses pulled him into another vehicle and drove to the 4400 block of South Ashland, where they called for help, police said.

Velazquez-Perez, of the 4100 block of South St. Louis Avenue, was taken to Stroger Hospital and was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Brion Barlow, a father of three who had a baby earlier this year, was identified by family members as the man who was shot to death early Wednesday outside a restaurant in South Shore.

Brian Barlow, 31, was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of East 72nd Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:02 a.m.

The body could be seen lying on the ground outside the Kennedy Fish & Chicken restaurant, among more than a dozen shell casings and evidence markers. Witnesses said they saw a red SUV speeding away after the shooting.

Family members said Barlow lived in the neighborhood with his grandmother. The medical examiner’s office listed his address as the 11800 block of South Emerald.
