A Bridgeview man shot New Year’s Day in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood died Saturday. He was one of four people killed by gun violence that wounded another 12 people across Chicago on the first day of 2013.
Myron Brown, 30, was shot about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 8700 block of South Honore Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
He told police he had been sitting in the back seat of his vehicle when an unknown shooter approached the driver’s side of the car and started shooting, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
Brown, of the 7300 block of West 71st Street in Bridgeview, was shot multiple times during the attack, authorities said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he died at 8:33 p.m. Saturday.
Gun violence throughout the city killed three other men and wounded 12 others on New Year’s Day, authorities said previously.
Area South detectives are investigating, but no one is in custody Sunday morning.
