The second of two men killed when a masked gunman unleashed a barrage of bullets outside a Bridgeport hamburger stand last Saturday has been identified.
The shooting outside Kevin’s Hamburger Heaven, in the 500 block of West Pershing Road, was the second time in four months that someone has been killed outside an all-night restaurant in Bridgeport.
Alan Smiley, 31, and Peter Joseph, 34, were both dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office. They both lived in the 8100 block of South Burnham Avenue, at different addresses.
Customers were inside the restaurant around 4 a.m. when the three men went outside to smoke as they waited for their order. A man in a mask ran up to them, opening fire at close range before running off, police said following the shooting.
A third man was taken to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to an arm and his abdomen, police said.
The slaying was the second double-homicide that day, and part of a bloody weekend that left seven people dead and five others wounded in weekend violence in Chicago.
