Body found in Marquette Park lagoon was 14-year-old boy

The body pulled from a lagoon in Marquette Park last week was that of a 14-year-old boy, authorities said.

 The body was identified as Julius Campbell, 14, of the 5900 block of South Artesian Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Julius’s body was pulled from the lagoon at the park in the 6700 block of South Kedzie Avenue, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:50 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy on April 13 found that he had suffered multiple stab wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Chicago Police issued a missing person alert when Campbell was last seen March 7 near Gage Park High School in the 5600 block of South Rockwell Street.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
