The son of an O’Hare Airport security officer was charged with fatally stabbing his father to death early Sunday in his Morgan Park neighborhood home.

Kenneth Johnson, 49, was stabbed during a domestic dispute in his home in the 11400 block of South Rockwell Street, at 2:47 a.m., authorities said.

His son, 24-year-old Mason Johnson, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the slaying, police said. He lived in the same block of South Rockwell Street, and is still hospitalized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, recovering from injuries he sustained during the altercation.

Kenneth Johnson was an aviation security officer and shift supervisor at O’Hare International Airport, according to Chicago Aviation Department spokeswoman Karen Pride.

An autopsy Monday found he died of multiple stab and incised wounds and ruled his death a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

“He seemed like a nice enough fellow,” a neighbor said, who added that Johnson cleared snow from his sidewalk during a recent snowstorm.

Mason Johnson was ordered held without bond Monday, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office website. He will next appear in court Thursday at Branch 66, at 2600 S. California Ave.
