A 33-year-old man was shot to death on a South Side street Wednesday night by a gunman who rode in a vehicle that the slain man had cursed at just moments before.
Charles Bush was near the 5900 block of South LaSalle Street when he yelled words at a dark-colored van that passed him on the street about 7:50 p.m., police said. Moments later, a shooter got out of the van and opened fire, striking Bush multiple times in the abdomen, authorities said.
The gunman then got back in the van, which sped off, police said.
Bush, who lived nearby in the 5800 block of South Princeton Avenue, was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he died at 11:05 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated.
