A man shot to death near his South Shore neighborhood home early Wednesday was the first homicide victim in the month of May.
Authorities said Darrin Rodgers, of the 6800 block of South Cornell Avenue, was shot in the same block as his home about 12:10 a.m. — 10 minutes after the month rang in.
Rodgers, 27, was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in grave condition, but died at 12:53 a.m., authorities said.
No one was in custody as Area South detectives investigated.
Police could not provide further information
