Police are investigating the death of a man found dead with head trauma, and possibly beaten to death, in his Park Manor apartment Monday afternoon on the South Side.
The man — identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as 39-year-old Raphael Smith — was found by a roommate at 12:12 p.m. inside their first-floor apartment in the 6800 block of South King Drive, police said.
The man suffered head trauma and was dead on the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office, which will perform an autopsy on Tuesday. Area Central detectives are investigating the death as a homicide, police said. Nobody is in custody.
