1 killed, 1 wounded in South Shore attack

One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood Sunday night, police said. About 9:20 p.m., two men were sitting in a vehicle when three males approached and fired shots into the vehicle, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. The two victims got out of the car and ran, Alfaro said.

Justin Jackson, 22, suffered a gunshot wound to the left side and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died at 10:06 p.m., authorities said.

Another man, 26, was discovered in the 7600 block of South South Chicago Avenue with graze wounds to the head and shoulder, Alfaro said. He was listed in “stable” condition at Jackson Park Hospital.

Area South detectives are questioning three persons of interest in connection with the shooting, police said.

Police had previously said that the two incidents were unrelated.
