A man was shot to death Sunday afternoon in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.
The man was discovered shot in the head about 3:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Jonquil Terrace, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said.
The man was dead on the scene, O’Brien said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed a 22-year-old man was killed, but did not release his name pending notification of relatives.
According to police on the scene, the man was shot in a field directly south of Gale Community Academy. About two dozen Chicago police officers were monitoring the area. At least two Evanston Police Department vehicles were also on the scene.
Area North detectives are investigating.
