A 29-year-old woman wounded late Thursday in an Auburn Gresham neighborhood drive-by shooting has died.
Shawntina Burpo was in the 7900 block of South Wood Street when she was struck several times by gunfire shortly before midnight, authorities said.
Burpo, of the 7800 block of South Union Street, was outside with a group when the shots were fired from a passing silver-colored vehicle, authorities said. No one else was injured in the shooting.
She was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, but died there several hours later at 4:18 a.m. according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Area South detectives were investigating.
