Two men and a teenage boy were killed Wednesday night after gunfire erupted across a courtyard in the South Shore neighborhood.
The three were standing in the courtyard in the 6700 block of South Chappel Avenue when several gunmen approached on foot and opened fire about 8:45 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
Darius Morris, 23, died on the scene after he was shot in the shoulder, police said.
Sylvester Solomon, 27, suffered gunshot wounds to his back and left arm and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he died at 9:43 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Abdul R. Trull, age 16, who was shot in the temple and thigh, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he died just before midnight, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.
No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated.
