A West Side man was shot dead outside an Austin neighborhood gas station early Sunday.
Lionel Johnson, 29, and an acquaintance were walking through the parking lot of a gas station in the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue when somebody shot him just before 2 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Paramedics took Johnson to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was declared dead at 5:02 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
A Monday autopsy determined Johnson, of the 4300 block of West Jackson Boulevard, died from a gunshot wound to the chest and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Area North detectives are investigating.
