Jason Jernigan was killed in a Garfield Park area shooting Saturday night on the West Side.
Jernigan, 27, was discovered in a vacant lot in the 3300 block of West Van Buren Street about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. He was shot in the chest and abdomen area.
A memorial for Jernigan sits by a vacant lot near where he was shot. Teddy bears and red, black and gold balloons are tied to a tree while candles line the ground.
Jernigan, of the 3400 block of West Adams Street, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Area North detectives are investigating.
