Daniel Travis has been charged with the fatal stabbing of Gregory Shanks during an argument Wednesday afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Travis, 61, has been charged with first-degree murder, according to Chicago Police.
Travis allegedly stabbed 47-year-old Gregory Shanks in the chest and head a few minutes before 3 p.m. Wednesday as the two argued, a statement from police said.
When officers arrived, Shanks, of the 600 block of North Homan Avenue, was found in the vestibule of the building, authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Travis, who lives in the building where the stabbing happened, admitted to police that he stabbed Shanks after an argument turned physical, police said.
He is expected to appear in bond court Friday.
