Xavier Tripp was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
Tripp, 25, was walking on a sidewalk in the 4100 block of West Adams Street when a vehicle pulled up and at least one person got out about 1:35 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
At least one person in the group opened fire and Tripp was shot multiple times, authorities said. The group then got back in the vehicle, which drove away, police said.
Tripp, of the 1500 block of North Long Avenue, died at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 2:15 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Nobody has been charged for the murder.
Area North detectives are investigating.
