A Mississippi man has been charged with murder in the September 2013 shooting death of Rubin Austin in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Randon Walker, 23, of the 300 block of Mulberry Street in Lexington, Miss., was ordered held on $2 million bond during a Friday court hearing.
Police found Austin, 25, lying on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of West Augusta Boulevard at 12:47 a.m. Sept. 20, 2013, authorities said.
Austin, of the 1100 block of North Ridgeway, was shot in the chest and pelvis and died minutes later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, authorities said.
Investigators identified Walker as the shooter and he was arrested in Mississippi on July 20 before being extradited to Chicago, police said. He will be back in court Aug. 20.
