The son of an O’Hare International Airport security officer who pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his father was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday.
Mason Johnson, 26, was charged with murder for the March 23, 2013, stabbing death of his father, Kenneth Johnson, during a domestic dispute at their home in the 11400 block of South Rockwell Street, authorities said.
Kenneth Johnson, 49, was an aviation security officer and shift supervisor at O’Hare Airport, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.
An autopsy determined he died of multiple stab and incised wounds and ruled his death a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
After the fight, Mason Johnson was also hospitalized with injuries, police said.
Earlier this month, Mason Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder before Judge James Linn, according to court records.
On Monday, he was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison and given credit for nearly a year and a half spent in jail since his arrest, according to the court records.
