A Steger man shot to death in a Roseland area alley Saturday morning.

A resident found 20-year-old Martell Robinson in an alley in the 9700 block of South Forest Avenue at 8:12 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Robinson, of the 300 block of West 35th Street in Steger, was shot in the head and back and died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 7:33 a.m. Monday, authorities said.

An autopsy confirmed Robinson died from a gunshot wound to the head and ruled his death a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Robinson liked to play basketball and was a student at Olive-Harvey College, said a friend who asked not to be named.

The friend said Robinson was laid back and made everyone laugh.

“He was always telling jokes. He was one of the funniest friends I had around,” the friend said. “Him not being here doesn’t feel right at all. This is my fourth close friend to be killed within the last two years. It’s just crazy.”

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area South detectives are investigating.
