Rene Arredondo killed in Brighton Park shooting

Rene Arredondo was killed in a Brighton Park neighborhood shooting that also left another man seriously wounded Tuesday evening.

The men were shot in the 4200 block of South Rockwell Street about 5 p.m., police said. The shooting happened near Shield Elementary School.

Arredondo, 31, of the 4500 block of South Rockwell Street, was shot in the head and later died at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other man, 18, was shot in the arm and back, police said. He was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
