Walter L. Wright was fatally shot in the Gage Park neighborhood Friday night.
Wright, 17, was in the 5800 block of South Western Avenue when a gunman approached and shot him in the chest about 7:30 p.m. Friday, authorities said.
Wright, of the 5300 block of South May Street, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was declared dead at 8:09 p.m. Friday, authorities said. An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday.
Nobody has been charged for the murder.
Area Central detectives are investigating if the shooting is gang related.
