Delia Colunga dies after East Side shooting

Delia Colunga has died after being shot in the head in the East Side community Saturday night.

Colunga, 23, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling near East 109th Street and South Green Bay Avenue when a gunman behind the vehicle opened fire about 7:05 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Colunga, of the 600 block of East 65th Street, was shot in the head and the driver took her to Advocate Trinity Hospital, authorities said.

She was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died at 9:53 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Nobody has been charged for the killing.

Area South detectives are investigating.
