Louis Walker dies a month after Uptown shooting

A North Lawndale man shot more than a month ago in the Uptown neighborhood has died.

Louis Walker, 28, was sitting in a vehicle in the 4700 block of North Broadway when another vehicle pulled up and a gunman inside opened fire about 2:45 p.m. April 7, authorities said.

Walker, of the 1400 block of South Ridgeway Avenue, was shot in the arm, chest and leg, authorities said. He died at 6:46 a.m. Sunday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy determined Walker died of complications from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area North detectives are investigating.
