Sen. Mattie Hunter receives social media condolences in wake of slain nephews

Following the violent Fourth of July weekend that left 10 people killed and 55 wounded, numerous people are sending state Sen. Mattie Hunter of Chicago condolences on the death of her two nephews, John Hunter and Willie Hunter.

One post reads, “My condolences Mattie” by John Adams.

Another post reads, “sending healing prayers for heart. prayer for your family,” from Glora Gwendolyn Davis.

Villa Ross was one of the first to send sympathies to Hunter. Ross’ post reads, “My condolences out to thw family of Senator Mattie Hunter. So sorry for ur liss rhis violent weekend. Know you are in our prayers. Remember ‘Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.’ GOD bless you all.”

Funeral proceedings for both men will take place Friday, July 10.
