Fatal shooting of Randy Leavell in Rogers Park in August ruled a suicide

The death of Randy Leavell, who was found shot in the head in a Rogers Park neighborhood apartment last summer, has been ruled a homicide.

The 31-year-old Leavell, 31, was found with a gunshot wound to the head in an apartment in the 1100 block of West Morse about 1:35 a.m. Aug. 19, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy for Leavell, who lived in the 4700 block of South Indiana, was pending at the time but has since ruled his death a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
