James Douthard fatally shot while driving in Austin

James Douthard was shot to death while driving Austin on Sunday night.

The 42-year-old was driving in the 1000 block of North Lamon about 8:35 p.m. when someone opened fire, striking him repeatedly, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He then crashed into a parked car.

Douthard, of the 800 block of North Lawler, was dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related.
