Hughvon Polk killed, second man wounded in Humboldt Park shooting


Hughvon Polk was killed and another man wounded in a shooting in Humboldt Park on Monday night.

About 8:20 p.m., the two men were in a red van traveling in the 1100 block of North Keeler when several males shot at them from across the street, police said.

The driver, identified as the 24-year-old Polk, was shot in the left side of his chest and left arm, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Polk, of the 2800 block of West Flournoy, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 9:06 p.m., authorities said.

The younger man, 21, was shot in the left hand and suffered a graze wound to his left arm. He was taken to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
