Antwan McCray dies two weeks after being robbed and shot in Washington Heights

Antwan D. McCray died Friday, two weeks after he was robbed and shot in Washington Heights.

The 29-year-old was in an alley in the 10200 block of South Lowe about 10 p.m. on Aug. 21 when someone walked up and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The robber then pulled out a gun, shot him in the chest and took off with his belongings, police said at the time.

McCray, of the 400 block of West 100th Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died Friday at 4:09 p.m., authorities said.

A Saturday autopsy found he died of complications from the gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police did not have an update on the investigation Saturday night.
