The girl, known as Baby Jane Uddin, was found in the grass about 11:45 p.m. outside a building in the 800 block of West Eastwood, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

She was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:57 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Thursday showed the girl died of multiple blunt force injuries, the medical examiner’s office said. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police could be seen searching for evidence and taking photographs outside a building in that block early Thursday.

Area North detectives are conducting a death investigation and no one was in custody as of late Thursday afternoon.
