Christopher Williams fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing

Christopher Williams died Friday morning, about four hours after being shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

Williams, 31, was walking in the 7800 block of South Maryland about 1:30 a.m. when a male suspect got out of an SUV and shot him several times, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Williams, of the 800 block of East 78th Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 5 a.m., authorities said.

An autopsy Saturday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
