Police say Lamont Alexander was fatally shot in a ‘domestic’ incident in North Lawndale


A 23-year-old man fatally shot Friday afternoon in what police called a domestic incident in North Lawndale has been identified as Lamont Alexander.

Alexander was fighting with two people on a sidewalk in the 4100 block of West 21st Street just before 4 p.m. when one of the other two pulled out a gun and shot him in the head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Alexander, who lived on the same block, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:24 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. He died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police called the shooting domestic-related, but gave no other details.
