Latania Anderson was trying to break up a fight at a party in the Austin neighborhood party early Saturday when she was shot and killed.

Two people got into an argument about 5:25 a.m. while they were at the party in the 300 block of South Cicero, Chicago Police said.

Anderson, 27, stepped in between the two to break them up, but one of them, a male of unknown age, shot her in the head, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Anderson, who lived in the 4700 block of West Maypole, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
