Gino Carrasco fatally shot while walking out of store in North Lawndale

Gino Carrasco was fatally shot early Saturday in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

The 22-year-old was walking out of a store in the 3200 block of West 16th Street at 1:14 a.m. when someone got out of a vehicle and fired shots, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Carrasco suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital. He was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 5100 block of South Sawyer.

The family has started a GoFundMe page to help offset funeral costs for Carrasco, who was known to friends as “Lucky.”
