Greater Grand Crossing party turns deadly with Terrell Burkhart killed, two men wounded

Terrell Burkhart was killed and two others were wounded when gunfire erupted at a party in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side Friday night.

The three men were outside at a party in the 7600 block of South Maryland about 8:10 p.m. when someone drove past and opened fire, Chicago Police said.

The 29-year-old Burkhart was shot in the abdomen and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died less than an hour later, authorities said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office said Berkhart lived the 9200 block of South Dobson.

Another man, 26, was also taken to Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the hand, police said. The third man, 40, was shot in the back and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center. Their conditions had both stabilized.
