Andres Rivera was having dinner in his kitchen table when bullets ripped through his front door and killed him Saturday evening in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Rivera, 58, was eating at his table just after 8 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Kolin when shots fired from the street tore through the front door and struck him in the head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:36 p.m., authorities said.

A police source said the shooting was possibly gang-related, but it was not clear if Rivera was the intended target.
