18-year-old Latrell McMahon killed, second man wounded in West Garfield Park shooting

Latrell McMahon was killed and nother man wounded in a shooting in the West Garfield Park neighborhood early Saturday.

McMahon, 18; and a 19-year-old man were in the first block of South Springfield about 1:30 a.m. when they were shot, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The men were in a minivan at the intersection of Madison and Springfield when shots were fired. They were found a few blocks east, at Madison and Homan.

McMahon was shot in the abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene at 1:56 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 1800 block of South Fairfield.

The other man was shot in the right leg and was listed in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
