A man fatally shot last week in West Englewood has been identified as Eric Burgin, and police and prosecutors say the man who shot him and another man is Camron Howard.

Burgin, 28; and a 38-year-old man were sitting on Burgin’s grandmother’s porch about 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 6400 block of South Damen when Howard walked up to them and asked to buy some marijuana, police and Cook County prosecutors allege.
When Burgin said he did not have any, Howard pulled a gun and started shooting, Chicago Police said at the time.
Burgin was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene 10:56 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived on the same block where the shooting happened.
The older man was shot in the left leg, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Howard was arrested just minutes after the shooting by gang enforcement officers who heard the shots, authorities said. The surviving victim and two other witnesses identified him as the shooter.
Howard, 18, of the 8100 block of South Loomis, was charged Friday with one count each of first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to police.
He was ordered held without bond Saturday, and was scheduled to appear in court again on Monday.
