LaShawn ‘Ducky’ Carr shot to death just three blocks from his home in Englewood

LaShawn Carr, a 33-year-old father, was shot to death just three blocks from his home in the Englewood neighborhood Monday evening.

Carr was on a sidewalk in the 900 block of West 58th Street when a light-colored car pulled up and someone inside it shot him in the back about 6:45 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Carr, known to friends as “Ducky,” was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:07 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 5900 block of South Emerald.
