In 2009, Marvin Keyes was acquitted of the murder of a postal worker, but on Thursday, the 33-year-old died, just about a month after he was shot in the West Town neighborhood.

About 9:30 p.m. Aug. 27, Keyes was walking out of a home in the 2000 block of West Maypole when a silver car pulled up to him and a gunman got. Keyes was shot in the head, legs and right arm, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The shooter got back in the car and took off. Keyes was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:07 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

Keyes, who lived in the 3600 block of West Douglas, was acquitted in April 2009 of the December 2006 killing of 44-year-old Suzette Coleman. She was a postal worker who prosecutors said was caught in gang crossfire near her home in the 1300 block of South Millard, the Sun-Times previously reported.

No arrests have been made in Keyes’ shooting, police said Saturday. He was among 67 people shot across Chicago that weekend.
