Izael McKenzie killed, second man wounded when man walks up and opens fire in Englewood

Izael McKenzie was killed and another man was critically wounded in a shooting Friday night just two blocks away from the victim’s Englewood home.

McKenzie, 19; and 20-year-old were in the 5600 block of South Racine about 8:09 p.m. when another man walked up and shot them, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Both victims taken to Stroger Hospital, where McKenzie was pronounced dead with multiple gunshot wounds at 8:44 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He lived about two blocks away in the 5600 block of South Throop.

The older man was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the back, police said.
