16-year-old Deandre Banks found with fatal gunshot wound to the back in West Garfield Park

A teenage boy fatally shot Saturday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood has been identified as Deandre Banks.

The 16-year-old was found outside in the 200 block of South Kostner with gunshot wounds to his back and leg at 4:50 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Deandre was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:14 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 5400 block of West Ohio.
